William J. Brunken, PhD, Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Director of the Center for Vision Research, has been elected to serve on the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology's Research Director's Council for five years.
Dr. William J. Brunken was awarded a competitive renewal of his R01 grant from the National Eye Institute. The grant is entitled: Role of Extracellular Matrix in Retinal Development and Disease.

When you started at the CVR: 2004

Why I became interested in vision research: I was always fascinated with eye, and grew more interest by comparing the eye with a camera when I was in high school. I got very interested in vision when I started medical school.

Current Position: Postdoctoral fellow in Dr. Knox’s lab.

Current Research Focus: Retinal degeneration in human and animal models.

Future Plans: To know more about eye diseases and their potential treatments.
